Calcium sulfate, commonly known as gypsum, is a naturally occurring mineral widely used as an effective soil conditioner in agriculture. It is valued for its ability to improve soil structure without altering soil pH, making it suitable for both acidic and alkaline soils. By supplying soluble calcium and sulfur-two essential secondary nutrients-calcium sulfate helps correct soil imbalances, enhance water infiltration, reduce surface crusting, and alleviate subsoil acidity. Unlike lime, it does not raise soil pH, allowing growers to address calcium deficiencies and soil compaction without affecting the availability of other nutrients.

Calcium Sulfate content:

Calcium(CaO):21‑23%

Sulphur:20.00%-22%

Moisture:2% max

Appearance:GREY GRANULE 2-4mm

Uses and Application Rates

1. Grapes: In soil rich in calcium, grape berries have higher sugar content, richer aroma, and greater yield. At the same time, calcium deficiency can lead to problems such as flesh rot, black spots, and berry shedding from the cluster. It is understood that adding 4,000 kg of gypsum powder per hectare of vineyard significantly increases yield.

2. Turfgrass: After applying calcium sulfate, turfgrass shows improvements in seedling emergence, density, height, and coverage.

calcium sulfate is used to improve compacted clay soils, reduce sodium‑induced dispersion (reclaiming sodic soils), and prevent blossom end rot in vegetables like tomatoes and peppers. It can be applied before planting, as a side‑dress, or as a topdress. For general soil conditioning, broadcast 200‑500 kg per hectare (180‑450 lbs per acre) and incorporate into the top 10‑15 cm of soil. In high‑sodium soils, rates may reach 2‑5 tons per hectare depending on exchangeable sodium levels. For spot correction of calcium deficiency around vegetable crops, apply 50‑100 g per plant. Always base final rates on soil test results and local extension recommendations.
