Cherry radishes belong to a type of seasonal radishes. Due to their appearance being similar to that of cherries in terms of color and size, they are called cherry radishes. Cherry radishes contain various minerals, trace elements, and other substances beneficial to the human body. Now, the planting area of cherry radishes is also expanding. So, how should cherry radishes be planted? The following article will introduce the planting method of cherry radishes for you. Let's take a look!

1. Selecting varieties

The selection of varieties for cherry radishes is very important. A good variety not only determines the growth ability of cherry radishes, but also has a great relationship with the final yield and quality. Therefore, before planting, we must choose the right variety. When choosing varieties, we should decide based on market demand and the planting area, etc. Currently, common varieties in the market include Chiuan Ershiwu Da Gen and Zao Hong, etc. Their growth period is about one month. They have strong growth ability and are suitable for growing in warm environments, but they are not very heat-resistant.

2. Land preparation and ridge formation

If it is spring planting, cherry radishes grow quickly, so it is necessary to choose fertile, deep, soft, and well-draining sandy soil. Before preparing the land, apply sufficient base fertilizer. The base fertilizer should be mainly composed of decomposed farmyard manure. Pay attention to the amount. If the base fertilizer is insufficient, the growth speed of cherry radishes will significantly decrease, and the flesh root will lack nutrition and cannot expand. There will be an early flowering phenomenon, which will affect the planting efficiency. Spring planting is usually mainly done by sowing in flat beds. After applying sufficient base fertilizer, deep plowing should be carried out to mix the soil and fertilizer thoroughly. Then, make ridges half a month before sowing and cover the soil with plastic film to increase soil temperature.

3. Sowing at the right time

Cherry radishes have strong cold resistance. Soil temperature should not be lower than 8 degrees Celsius before sowing. The earlier they are planted in spring, the better the economic benefits will be. Therefore, we should try to plant earlier. Before sowing, soak the seeds in 30-degree warm water for about 1 hour, then place them in a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius for germination. About 2 days later, the seeds will sprout. Then make ridges on the ridge and water to perform point sowing. When the water seeps into the soil, control the sowing density and sow at the right time. Cover the soil with fine soil and pay attention to covering the seeds evenly and maintaining the same thickness of the soil layer.

4. Field management

Cover the soil with plastic film promptly after sowing. Cover with straw at night for insulation. Control the temperature during the day at 25 degrees Celsius and the temperature at night at 7 degrees Celsius or above. Then, uncover the straw in the morning until the temperature gradually drops and cover it again. About two weeks later, the seedlings will emerge and grow. After the seedlings are uniform, pay attention to ventilation. The temperature can be appropriately reduced to 19 degrees Celsius. At least thinning 2 times is necessary. When the seedlings grow to about 5 true leaves, timely thinning should be done. Do a good job in fertilizer and water management, and timely hoeing and weeding to create a favorable environment for the growth of cherry radishes.
